Hello Kurt, I just wanted to introduce myself and establish a thread to track my order progress. First, my name is Matt. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic, SWAT medic, and an Operation Iraqi Freedom combat veteran as a Navy Corpsman working with the 3/25 Marines. I am also an FFL licensed dealer and FMF Tactical is my company. OK, so I sent to you 2 20" HBARs that I stripped down for you to work. On one, I simply want it turned down to A2 govt profile. On the other, I want it lightened to A2 profile also, but also I want it converted/cut down (and rethreaded)to your KGW 16+ type carbine with a rifle length gas system and required gas port modification. I see now on this board that you like to test these after your mods, but I stripped mine completely, assumimg that the extra work required before you could chuck it up on a lathe would incur extra shop time expenses. Hopefully this is a routine thing and you know already exactly what size you want the gas port on a KGW. Let me know if there will be a problem with this. I heard about your services on AR-15.com. I look forward to putting my AR's back together and posting pics and a KGW range report on AR-15.com Thanks.

Hey Kurt, I was wondering if my barrels arrived to your shop yet? Also, I've been running into so called "conventional wisdom" advising me that a rifle length gas system on a 16" barrel, as in the KGW, doesn't allow enough barrel length after the gas port to reliably cycle the bolt. I'm guessing this is why you go 16+ and why you open up the gas port? Will I have to use only ammo loaded to 5.56 specs with this and avoid lower powered .223 loads? I'm looking fwd to rebuilding these 2 rifles and getting out the range. Thanks.

Yes, they arrived. I've been producing and shooting KGW's for some years. I have the process 'down'. Thx! ----------

Standard-pressure loadings. The next step would be reduced-power recoil springs for lighter loadings. Thx! ----------

Hello Kurt, Its been a week, I don't know how large your back log of work is, but is there any progress to report on my 2 AR-15 barrels? Thanks.

I have a huge backlog but I'm working through it, along with working on my CNC's. When my tech is here, I try to hang with him so I can learn something. I received my new motherboard for the mill yesterday. I'll try to turn your barrels in the next couple weeks. Wish I was processing them on the CNC lathe Thx! ----------

Kurt, I am taking a 2 day patrol rifle class June 2&3, and I am going to be hard pressed to get the KGW rifle back together and sighted in at a local range so I can use it in the class unless you are working on it now. I know custom work can't be rushed and you are a one man operation and I respect that. However, if your backlog is too big at this time, would you please return ship my 2 barrels to me.
