.45 barrel availability

Kurt, do you currently have any blanks available to do an Oly-style .45ACP barrel?

I need a 14.5" with a permanent extended A1 style hider.

I want a standard FSB and handguard, and a barrel as light as is practical and sane; .750 all the way if that is safe, heavier if that is necessary.

No, but coming soon. He's running .50's now. He'll be set up on .45 blanks very soon. I called him (Long Hammock Barrels) today. These are broach-cut (the best) barrels. My first order is for 20 blanks.
Thx!

Cool. What would the cost be for you to build what I described when you get the blanks in?

I'm pricing these very close to my 22LR bbls.
A barrel as described would run $345. I just sent out a 22LR bbl. in this configuration out this week.

This is the upper I have kustomized for my KKF .45 lower:

The forward assist is a dummy button from aluminum. The 'NATO' green is my tounge-in-cheek jab as it's 45 ACP. I'm going to finish my paperweight from Justin in the same finish.
Thx!

Looks cool Kurt. I'm using a RRA 9mm upper for mine. I've already got everything but a barrel.

What barrel configuration are you planning to use on that?

Dunno exactly. Probably a special profile with threads set back on the barrel through the use of a 5.5 muzzle attachment with a 'dump' muzzle brake, something like this like I did in .338 for Marty (Teppo Jutsu):

I'll post pics of this 'special'.
Here's what I have now, showing various profiles:

Thx!

Very similar to mine. I was going to use a paddle mag release.

Our intent was to use unmodified GG mags and keep the manual of arms for reloads identical to that of a regular AR15/M16.

Right. I was going to use the same system as my STEN magwell blocks (which I've become so used to, the MoA), since MAC10's (the reason for my wealth of GG mags) use the GG mags with a paddle of sorts. With this lower, GG mags drop-free.

Hello Kurt,

Any news on availability of .45 barrels?

Kurt,

I got one of the pictured 11.5" barrels with that 5.5" flash hider. I really didn't need that flash hider since I've got 3 CavArms lowers on Form 1's as SBR's.

I'm getting a suppressor; so, it has to come off. My Scottish penny pinching genes cringe at the thought of wasting such a fine piece of work. Can I send the barrel back to you and have that removed in such a fashion that you could reuse it?

Kurt,

Can I go ahead and place an order for a .45 barrel now, or would you prefer I wait until you have blanks on hand?

Are the FSB on the .45 barrels ones for the A1/A2 handled uppers or the flattop uppers?

Either way. I kustom build. With the FSB calibrated for 5.56 anyway, the relevency to the 45ACP is kinda moot.
Thx!

I called Longhammock Barrels on Tuesday. While the blanks are definately coming, they're not here yet. They've been out hunting. He has one to try, and finalize the bore/rifling dimensions.
Thx!

I couldn't find pricing for a complete AR45 on your website. I understand from the Khalan site that the barrels may be lacking, but can you give me a ballpark idea?

I'll call my bud again.
Bolt carriers are also a problem. From Tom@Oly:

"Kurt,

Looks like the machine that makes the bolt carriers for the pistol cals is
down yet again. The manufacturer is currently pulling out their hair to find
out why. Could be another 2 weeks before we ship. Sorry for the delay."

It'll all come together soon.
Thx!

Hmmmm, so Tom at Oly is saying that bolts are an issue? Funny as he just told me they had them in stock and ready to ship...

Kurt, just looking to the future, my dad and I have budgeted to buy our barrels in mid-January. Planning on 16 inch free float. Will that be cool?

I just got a bolt from them a couple of weeks ago. It fits my Fulton Armory upper perfectly. Still waiting for my lower to be finished though. I'll collect a few more parts before ordering my barrel.

Yes!

The issue with the bolts seems to vary...
I ordered a 45 bolt head that I can stick on my 357SIG carrier.
Thx!

Not quite sure. If my buds at Longhammock Barrels get of their rears and get my 20 barrel blanks done, soon. If not, I can always order & use a Douglas blank ($$$). I won't charge your CC until I have something definate.

Douglas blanks, $50 additional.

Kurt, My dad and I are both ready to purchase AR45 barrels and have Oly ejectors installed in our upper receivers. I wanted to find out if you have two 16" free float .45acp barrels in stock. Also we'd like to ship our receivers to have the ejectors installed along with installing our forearms.

Finally what is the cost on the barrels, along with the labor to install the ejector, barrel and forearm?

Hey Kurt, as I mentioned in my previous post in this topic, my dad and I are ready to order barrels and have ejectors installed. Do you have any barrels ready? Or if not when do you expect to have them in stock?

Like I said we're ready to send money.

@tuckahoe64:

Kurt does not have any currently in stock; He is waiting on his supplier for blanks, and that leaves the rest of us waiting for barrels.

You can have him use a douglas blank instead of his usual longhammock blank, but that will cost you an additional $50.

Longhammock's a'runnin' 45 barrels now. These are .450 bore and I believe 1/18 twist. I'm going to make one of these blanks into a barrel, and see how it shoots. If it passes my criteria, I'm off and runnin'. I'm headed up thwer before Bike Week.
Thx!

I just came frome there. The 45 barrels he's run do not meet my specs, but we found the drill and reamer that his dad used for Dick Casull's blanks, so they will be forthcoming. Standard twist for 45ACP is 1/16, but if you wish something else, LMK NOW so I can call him, but all barrels in this run will be the same twist.
Thx!
