My 357/44 B&D Blackhawk
My Ruger Blackhawk. This piece started life as a 357. I rebarreled it with a 357 blank which I machined to an octagon 6 incher. The cylinder utilized was a 30 carbine. I made up a hardened .357 dia. bushing to replace the barrel, then set up the frame in the mill. After cocking the action, I reamed the chamber mouths in succession after opening them up to @.015 under the .357 reamer diameter. Then, after removing the cylinder, reamed the chambers to 357/44 B&D. I also added a screw to the frame that bears lightly againt the cylinder bolt in the frame. The frame carries a RSBH grip frame, with Ivorex grips. Front sight is a Lyman ramp and gold bead, and I made up a V-notch rear blade to replace the factory unit. The ejector rod housing is a KKF steel unit, in a square profile to blend nicely with the octagon barrel.
